We’re heading to Oxford! Potter off down an idyllic path and over the river to Cogges Manor Farm, a historical farmstead now heritage centre.

Country lanes will take us to the Oxford outskirts. Here we meet the Thames river, and will follow the tow path to our elevenses spot at a stunning riverside pub.

Carrying on down the river, passing many budding rowers, we’ll peel off at the beautiful Iffley lock.

Cycling over Magdalen Bridge is a grand way to enter the city centre. Zig zagging through the streets  you’ll see the  University highlights, and other treats such as the Covered Market. Shell shocked you’ll be able to rest yourself for lunch at a cycle themed café!

After all that it’s a lovely ride back through parks and quiet lanes to the hotel.

Dinner and drinks in a local restaurant.

Sunday:

Head off along country roads towards Minster Lovell, where picturesque 15th century Manor House ruins lie beside the river Windrush.

Next stop is Burford, with its famous High Street that slopes down from the high Wolds. Take time here to explore the unbroken line of ancient houses and shops.

Just outside the town is the Burford Garden Company, a huge garden nursey with cafe, art gallery and shops. Enjoy elevenses here.

If you’ve never been to a Downton Abbey exhibition in a church then here’s your chance! The village of Bampton was used as a filming location for various scenes for the popular show. The exhibition is a great place to buy quirky gifts for any Downton fans you may know.
